Sometimes, parents begin to worry about their children when they reach the teenage years or enter high school. They worry about drugs, unwholesome friends, drugs, or violence. They don’t like the idea of their teenagers being with other teens who might be bad influences. For the first time in their child’s life, they begin to think of home school.

Because parents worry about the safety and welfare of their children, they make the huge decision to create a home school high school for their teens. Even though the teens may not seem too happy about idea, the parents insist and work hard to give their child a good home school experience.

One of the best ways to convince your teen that home schooling isn’t so bad is to introduce him to other home schooled teens. These teens, particularly those who have always been home schooled, can influence your teen into giving home schooling a try.

By the time home schoolers reach the teenage years, they need to socialize with one another. Home school mothers arrange parties, proms, and other social events so that their children will have some of the same activities high school kids also have.

Because high school has more difficult subject than the lower grades, some home school parents have problems. Particularly if your teen is gifted or very smart and wants to get in a good school, you will have to teach higher math, foreign languages, and other higher level classes. If your child has problems with these subjects, you might hire a tutor. The tutor might be a high school student or an accredited teacher.

Home schooling is never easy but can be the most rewarding years of your life. These are the years just before your teen will grow up and go away to college and leave home. This time can help you and you’re teen with the transition between the teenage years and adulthood.

One great activity or field trip could be to visit colleges and universities in your area. These trips can start as early as the ninth grade. Even though your teen is much too young for college, he can visit the schools and begin to find out what is necessary to gain entrance to the schools and what courses he has to have to be successful. He can also begin exploring career choices. He may even get a part time job in the afternoons when he is old enough.

The high school years are often quite difficult ones. If you decide to home school your teenager, you will undoubtedly have problems but the time spent together will be priceless.
